Colophon
How this website is made, and what keeps it running.
Behind the site
This is my home on the web. A place for my writing, the work I do, and the things I enjoy. Some of it is about software. Some of it is simply a record of what I like.
I build and maintain it myself. It changes over time, but the idea stays the same: a small, personal website that feels like me.
Tools & resources
- Next.js and React for building the site.
- TypeScript for the code, and Tailwind CSS for styling.
- MDX for writing posts, with room for interactive examples when they help.
- Motion for the transition between posts and work on the homepage.
- Biome for formatting and linting, and pnpm for managing packages.
Typography & color
Karla is used throughout the site, including the social preview images. The palette is soft pink and plum, with rose-colored links. A narrow column and generous spacing round things out.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel.
Small details
- Apple Music supplies the last played song on the homepage.
- I use Umami to understand how people find and use the site.
- Social preview images use the same typeface and colors as the site.
