Behind the site

This is my home on the web. A place for my writing, the work I do, and the things I enjoy. Some of it is about software. Some of it is simply a record of what I like.

I build and maintain it myself. It changes over time, but the idea stays the same: a small, personal website that feels like me.

Tools & resources

• Next.js and React for building the site.
• TypeScript for the code, and Tailwind CSS for styling.
• MDX for writing posts, with room for interactive examples when they help.
• Motion for the transition between posts and work on the homepage.
• Biome for formatting and linting, and pnpm for managing packages.

Typography & color

Karla is used throughout the site, including the social preview images. The palette is soft pink and plum, with rose-colored links. A narrow column, generous spacing, and a few stickers in the margins round things out.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel.

Small details

• Last.fm supplies the listening status on the homepage.
• I use Umami to understand how people find and use the site.
• Social preview images are generated from the same typeface and sticker artwork used here.
